Merosin-deficient congenital muscular dystrophy: MDC1A
Merosin-deficient congenital muscular dystrophy (MDC1A) is a type of congenital muscular dystrophy. Children born with MDC1A often have hypotonia (decreased muscle tone, floppiness) at birth, and may have reduced movements and contractures (tightness) of the hips, knees and elbows.
