On Sunday April 8th, Karen Winn, Tracy Sklenar, Michelle Wellon, Shirley Chapman and Steve Hammond completed a Tandem Skydive in aid of the MDC. They jumped from 13,000ft at Netheravon in Wiltshire.

"It was an amazing experience and at the same time we have raised nearly £4,000 (and still counting) for the MDC" said Tracy, she continued "I cannot wait to do it again!"

Karen's son Max was diagnosed with Duchenne MD in 2002 aged 23 months. The group wanted to do something in order to raise much needed funds for the MDC, but felt it needed to be something quite challenging in order to raise as much money as possible. The thought of throwing themselves out of an aeroplane terrified the group - therefore it seemed the most appropriate thing to do!!!

A skydive to fundraise
In the previous months the group hounded all family friends and the local businesses. Shirley organised a pub crawl dressed as nurses, and took the MDC collection boxes- a good night was had by all and they raised £114! So far the group has raised nearly £4,000. They are still appealing for donations and this can be done online at www.justgiving.com/jumpkarenjump until June 8th.

On the day lots of family and friends joined them at the Army base to wish them well and support them. A very good day was had by all, both jumpers
and supporters.

"It was a great day out and an excellent way to raise money for the charity, I would recommend it to anyone" said Karen.

The group would like to thank all their sponsors and supporters for making such a great day possible.
