Dublin2Dumbarton
Mark Warner has a close family member, a very young man called Eoghan, who lives in Dumbarton and suffers from muscular dystrophy.
He is a fantastic young man who used to be very mobile and independent. Unfortunately, unlike most healthy children, the older Eoghan gets, the more dependent he becomes on his loving family and on his wheelchair. Mark wants to raise awareness and much-needed money so that boys like Eoghan have a better future and quality of life.
Mark is joined by his good friend Jay in this challenge, they will be riding their bikes from Dublin to Dumbarton (Ireland to Scotland) on Saturday 26th May, hoping to cover the 200 miles and reach our destination by Friday 1st June. They are funding the trip (flights, ferry, accommodation etc) themselves, so all money raised goes directly to the charity. There is a film available to download which they would like you to watch. Please go to their just giving site at http://www.justgiving.com/cycledublin.
A note from Jay: “Mark presented the idea and it took all of 5 seconds to commit. Any of you would have done the same. We will be enduring the cramps, the ring sting, the incessant re-parking of lycra-clad town halls, the soft mick rain and a fair test to our middle-ageing hearts. Your test is to make the donation however small right now. Whatever you can afford will be gratefully received. Whether you know us from Brighton, Dublin, Liverpool, Glasgow or some random encounter many moons back, view the film and make a contribution.”
