Maureen Smyth has congenital dystrophy and her friend Lilly Byrne has myotonic dystrophy. Both ladies live in Newry and attend Millview resource centre in Bessbrook. Their main interest is needlecraft and they are photographed here with some of their prize-winning work.

Maureen and Lilly are also involved with other interests at Millview. These include; pottery, flower arranging, rustic work, picture framing, gardening, music, drama, self-help classes, indoor bowls, computer skills, reflexology, aromatherapy and social outings.
