Nemaline myopathy
An introduction to Nemaline myopathy
The congenital myopathies are a group of conditions that affect the proximal – shoulder, upper arm, pelvic and thigh – muscles causing muscle weakness and wasting. Symptoms usually present at birth or early childhood, although some cases have been identified in adults. ‘Nemaline’ is Greek for ‘thread’ and the condition is so called because the tiny rod-like structures seen in the affected muscle fibres look like threads.Read the full introduction
