Other equipment for Adaptations

When adaptations are being planned, a number of items of specialist equipment should be considered, obviously depending on the needs of the individual. The equipment discussed here has been included because it influences decisions relating to the adaptations, it needs to be plumbed in or installed, or it involves the provision of adequate space. In every case, the alternatives must be assessed before the final brief is given to the architectural designer, to enable a satisfactory outcome to be achieved.

Individuals, families or occupational therapists may use the justification leaflets (from the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s Adaptations Manual, 2nd edition) shown below. People can photocopy them to submit with requests for funding (please quote the source) or copy any part of the information into individual letters.

Arjo 'Sovereign' bath

Please note that at the time of writing (May 2004) the Sovereign bath is being altered.  Final details have yet to be confirmed, but Arjo is consulting with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign on this. Meanwhile, it may still be possible to purchase an "old-style" fixed height Sovereign, but there are no height-adjustable models left.
