Fundraising Hints and Tips
We want to help you make the most of your fundraising efforts, so no matter what event you're taking part in, this is sure to help you raise sponsorship.
Who will sponsor you?
Make a list and forget no-one:
- Family
- Friends
- Neighbours
- Classmates
- Colleagues
- Employers
- Local Companies
- Local Pubs
- Local Societies
Maybe you could even convince a few
to take part with you!
How do you ask people to sponsor you?
- Enthusiasm is contagious - Your positive attitude will rub off on others and help raise sponsorship.
- Tick the “Gift Aid” Box
- Write clearly (we need to be able to read it!)
- Include first initial and surname
- Full home address (not work) including house number/name, street and postcode
Sponsorship forms - Make sure the most generous person sponsors you first and hopefully everyone else will follow!
Just Giving - Set up a free fundraising page at www.justgiving.com and email it to your entire address book.
Collection Boxes - We can provide you with collection boxes. Ask your local pub if you can go in on a Friday night in fancy dress. Maybe they will even let you leave one on their counter?
Matched Giving - Some companies will match the sponsorship you raise, an easy way to double your sponsorship.
Publicity for local companies - You could offer to display a logo on your T-shirt for a big donation!
Publicity - Let the world know what you're doing
Contact your local newspaper, radio station or television company. Ask them to follow your training and fundraising progress.
Send out a press release - ask your Regional Fundraising Manager or our press team for support.
Advertise in your local area - churches, libraries, pubs, shops, your company newsletter or intranet, the possibilities are endless.
Take photos - There is nothing better to encourage support then seeing you hard at work, let people see how hard you are working to reach your goal!
Include your contact details - Never forget to put your name, contact number, email and Just Giving web page address on everything you do. Make it easy for people to sponsor you!
If any of your sponsors are UK tax payers, we can claim 28p for every £1 they donate. It costs you and your sponsors nothing - we claim the money back from the tax man - and we do not add your sponsors to our mailing lists.
To claim Gift Aid, we need the original, completed sponsorship forms. Your sponsors will need to:
