A Grandmothers’ Story
Nothing can prepare you for the shock of finding out that your beloved grandson is dying from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Especially my Ben who is full of life and had wonderful dreams of what he wanted to be when he grows up.
When my daughter Kate, Ben’s mother, broke the news to me, it was as if my whole world came to a stop. We both just hugged each other and cried. But we promised each other that we would be brave for Ben.
I’d like to ask you to do something brave now, by making a decision to leave a legacy to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Your pledge would be a wonderful gift of hope for the future as your legacy could help researchers to find a cure. This would mean children like Ben would no longer have their lives so cruelly cut short.
I know that it’s probably too late to mend the broken dreams of children like Ben who already have muscular dystrophy and will never grow up to become the racing drivers or footballers they so admire. But your pledge today can hold out so much hope for children in the future.
Thank you so much.
