Volunteer Administrative Assistant - London

Why we need you:

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign leads the fight against muscle disease.  We provide free care and support for babies, children and adults affected by muscle disease, fund world-class research to find treatments and cures, provide grants towards equipment and campaign to raise awareness and bring about change.

We need you to help the Volunteer Fundraising and Operations teams deliver a high level of care to supporters by providing efficient support to both teams, in an administrative capacity.

What will I be doing?

  • Sending thank you letters to supporters.
  • Assisting team with general administrative tasks including laminating, filing, scanning and data entry to ensure we provide a high level of service to our supporters and volunteers
  • Helping with the fulfilment of materials orders including pick, pack and dispatch of fundraising materials, so that the charity’s supporters receive the materials they need promptly
  • Volunteering at events organised by other teams in the charity by arrangement.

What skills and attributes do I need to have?

  • Enthusiasm for the cause and a positive attitude that reflects the charity’s values
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)   
  • Good organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and an ability to maintain records   
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • The ability to work well with staff and other volunteers as part of a team but also on your own initiative.
  • A commitment to and an understanding of disability issues, equal opportunities and diversity. 

How much time do I need to commit?

We are looking for someone to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 1 day per week.  For the right candidate we will of course be flexible on the days and times you are available.

What support will I be given?

A dedicated member of staff will guide and support you in your work plus you will receive supporting materials and a full induction to the charity.

You will be based in the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s Head Office in Southwark Street, London.
