Treasurer - Exmouth Branch
The Exmouth Branch for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is seeking an individual to take on the vital role of Treasurer to manage the accounts for their group. By taking on this role for the Exmouth Branch you will help to increase Muscular Dystrophy awareness within your community and raise significant funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
The Exmouth Branch has been running for over 20 years, it is relatively small with four key members; it has raised over £10,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. The group currently organise a number of small fundraising events a year.
What might I be doing?
Keeping accurate and up-to-date financial records of income and expenditure
Acting as one of the signatories on the branch bank account and sending regular donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
Depositing cheques and/or cash into the branch’s bank account and receiving the committee bank statements
Emptying, counting and banking cash from collecting boxes
Thanking supporters for their donations
Paying branch bills and invoices
Promoting gift aid to donors and other members of the committee
Reporting regularly to the branch and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign on the financial situation of the group
Completing Muscular Dystrophy Campaign’s annual financial paperwork
Keeping accurate records and reporting back to the committee and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign both informally and formally regarding income and expenditure.
What skills and attributes do I need to have?
Enthusiasm and ambition for the work of Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
Numerate with the ability to keep accurate records
Professional accountancy skills (certified if possible) would be an advantage
IT skills would be an advantage
Good communication skills
How much time do I need to commit?
As a volunteer you would be responsible for managing the hours that you wish to give to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. However, this role requires that donated monies and procedures are dealt with promptly and efficiently to support the branch and Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
What support will I be given?
You will be given an induction and training on all aspects of this role
All appropriate materials, including stationery will be supplied by Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
A dedicated Volunteer Fundraising Manager will be available to give you continuous support, advice and guidance.
Other group members will be available for help, support and advice.
