Volunteer Fundraising Marketing Coordinator


Why we need you:


The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign leads the fight against muscle disease. We provide free care and support for babies, children and adults affected by muscle disease, fund world-class research to find treatments and cures, provide grants towards equipment and campaign to raise awareness and bring about change.

As a Marketing Coordinator you will support the Volunteer Fundraising Manager in Scotland to raise funds through the promotion of a variety of fundraising products. These include ‘A Question of Support’, ‘Come Dine With Us’ and ‘At the Movies’. You will also help to recruit people from local communities to organise their own fundraising events based around these products.

 

What will I be doing?


• Carrying out research to identify groups, companies and individuals who could be targeted to organise an event based on these fundraising products.
• Organising local launch events for the fundraising products to excite the community and encourage participation.
• Contacting people who register and supporting them to get the most from their fundraising event.
• Contacting previous supporters of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign to encourage them to get involved.
• Arranging the distribution of leaflets and posters in and around your community.
• Working with local media to promote the campaign.
• Using your initiative and acting proactively when presented with potential opportunities to promote the campaign and the fundraising products.


What skills and attributes do I need to have?


• Enthusiasm for the cause and determination to make events a success
• Ability to respond proactively to new opportunities
• Influencing and persuading skills would be of benefit for encouraging people to get involved
• Strong research skills and excellent interpersonal skills;
• The ability to work well with staff and other volunteers as part of a team but also on your own initiative.

How much time do I need to commit?


We are looking for someone to commit to volunteering for a minimum of one day a week on an ongoing basis. However, there may be opportunities for you to give more/less time.


What support will I be given?


A dedicated member of staff will guide and support you in your work plus you will receive supporting materials, a full induction to the charity and specific training, where appropriate, to help you get the most from your role.

Where will I be based?


You will be able to complete your tasks from home and in your local community. However the role may also require you to travel to selected events and meetings.
