Muscular Dystrophy Campaign shortlisted for Campaigning Team of the Year
The Campaigns Team at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has been shortlisted for the Charity Times Campaigning Team of the Year award and the result will be announced at a ceremony tonight.
The charity's campaigning action has led to the appointment of 30 NHS-funded care advisors, national reviews into neuromuscular care, significant new NHS investment into specialist care and a national neuromuscular service plan launched by the Department of Health.
The recognition that the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has received in being shortlisted would not have been possible without your committed and invaluable support as we continue to campaign for service improvements nationally and locally across the UK, through Muscle Group pressure and parliamentary action.
Dave Anderson MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Muscular Dystrophy, said:
The All Party Parliamentary Group for Muscular Dystrophy was one of the very first groups to hold an in-depth, select committee style inquiry into access to specialist care. The successful model has now been applied to similar groups in the Scottish Parliament and the Welsh Assembly.
This would not have been possible without the support of the campaigns team at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. For a small team focused on what is a very rare condition, they really do punch above their weight.
