Supporting you: new advocacy service launched
A new addition to the charity's advocacy services, which can help you fight for your rights and get the essential support you need, has been launched by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign this week.
The charity's new Advocacy Pack provides comprehensive information and support for people with muscular dystrophy and related conditions. It complements the range of advocacy support the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign currently provides, including a telephone helpline, email support and a legal advice service with our partner law firm Hogan Lovells.
The pack provides comprehensive information on the major issues facing people with muscular dystrophy including access to Disability Living Allowance, Employment Support Allowance, housing and care packages. It also includes template letters to the people who decide on the provision of these services.
Nic Bungay, Director of Care, Campaigns and Information, said:
Over half of people* with muscular dystrophy and related conditions report that they struggle to access the necessary care, support and adaptations they need to live a full and independent life. The new Advocacy Pack has been developed to support the people who use it with knowledge of their rights and the tools to fight for them.
If you would like to find out more about the Advocacy Pack, request a paper copy, or to contact our advocacy service, please call 0800 652 6352 or email info@muscular-dystrophy.org
