Health Minister commissions response to groundbreaking Northern Ireland report
The Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) in Northern Ireland is currently preparing a response to the recommendations put forward in the McCollum Report by the All Party Group on Muscular Dystrophy in the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Northern Ireland Executive Health Minister, Edwin Poots MLA, has welcomed the launch of the McCollum Report and instructed the HSCB to consider the report's 15 recommendations. A full response is expected to be released in October after it has been approved by the Health Minister.
The Health Minister, who addressed guests at the report launch in the Northern Ireland Assembly in July 2012, has reaffirmed his commitment to working collaboratively with the All Party Group to help improve service provision for people with muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions.
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign will be working closely with the All Party Group to ensure that the McCollum Report recommendations result in the urgently-needed improvements to neuromuscular services in Northern Ireland being implemented.
The All Party Group, for which the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign provides all the organisational support, will be holding its first McCollum Report follow-up session in the Northern Ireland Assembly on Monday 24 September.
