Shirley Crosby and Alison Brown are the regional care advisors in Liverpool.
They support adults and children with muscle disease and are based at:

They are able to provide support to adults who attend the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust and to children who attend clinics at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Shirley and Alison can offer telephone advice to patients who live in Lancashire and Manchester.
For children who attend Manchester Children's Hospital, there is a Neuromuscular Nurse Specialist Service on 0161 701 0679.
Shirley joined the care advisor team in March 2009, having previously managed services for disabled children and their families in both the Health and Education fields, and more recently she managed the Disability Rights Commission/IPSEA Disability Discrimination in Schools Project covering England and Wales. She has a special interest in Disability Rights and equality of access to services for all, and has just completed her PG Dip in Disability Studies. Shirley is a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, and she has personal experience of caring for a family member with a neuromuscular condition.

Alison is a Registered Nurse for both children and adults, currently working towards a degree in Health and Social Care. She joined the neuromuscular team in March 2009 after spending 10½ years working in a Children's Hospice, where she helped set up the very successful service they now offer.
