Come and join us at our 2012 National Conference

People with muscular dystrophy and related conditions, as well as their families, friends and carers, are at the heart of everything we do. The programme we've put together for you is designed to be as informative, practical and helpful as possible, not forgetting to allow for some fun!

Our 2012 National Conference will take place on Saturday 13 October at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. It will run from 10am to 4.45pm, and we've put the programme together based on your feedback from past conferences.

Latest campaign and research news

You'll hear about all the latest breakthroughs in the research that we fund, as well as in international research. You'll also hear of the progress we've made, working with our Muscle Group members, Trailblazers and other supporters, to secure specialist services across the country. We will also highlight

 

Workshops and advice

There'll be opportunities to meet with care advisors, and to hear updates from researchers. Our campaigns teams and volunteer fundraising teams will be on hand to update you on latest successes and opportunities.

 

Children's crèche

There will be activities for children of all ages at our crèche, which will be staffed by fully qualified nurses - so come along with your whole family and enjoy the day out.

 

President's Awards

Dr Jon HastieOur President, Sue Barker MBE, will be there to present the 2012 President's Awards. As always, these awards are given to supporters in celebration of their outstanding achievements - for inspiring those around them or for their exceptional fundraising for the charity.

The categories for the 2012 President's Awards are:

Disabled access

All the conference rooms are located on the ground floor, with easy access and adapted bathrooms. The venue offers free parking with 220 spaces, including ample disabled bays just outside the main entrance.

 

Refreshments

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided, as well as a buffet lunch. Do let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

 

Conference venue

The East Midlands Conference Centre in University Park in Nottingham has state-of-the-art conference facilities with a free car park with 220 spaces. The centre is about ten minutes' drive from Nottingham train station, and five minutes' drive from Beeston train station. Nottingham train station has limited step-free access and Beeston station has limited access. The centre is just off the M1 motorway at junction 26, and for satellite navigation the postcode is NG7 2RJ. Book your place

The cost for delegates is just £20 for adults and £10 for children. A family ticket is £45. Costs include all refreshments, lunch and a crèche for children up to 16 years of age.
