The Beardmore Hotel Conference Centre, Clydebank on Saturday 6 October 2012

Come and join us at our 2012 Scottish Conference

People with muscular dystrophy and related conditions, as well as their families, friends and carers, are at the heart of everything we do. The programme we've put together for you is designed to be as informative, practical and helpful as possible, not forgetting to allow for some fun!

  • hear about latest research and new developments
  • find out how we're fighting for better services for you
  • hear about campaign successes and what these mean for you
  • have fun and make new friends.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided, as well as a buffet lunch. Do let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements.

Conference venue

All the conference rooms are located on the ground floor, with easy access and adapted bathrooms. The venue offers free parking with 300 spaces, including ample disabled bays.

There will be activities for children of all ages at our crèche, which will be staffed by fully qualified nurses - so come along with your whole family and enjoy the day out.

The Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre is situated on the banks of the River Clyde in Clydebank, near Glasgow, just minutes from the M8. If you're travelling by rail, the closest train station is Dalmuir Station which is ten minutes' walk away from the hotel. There are frequent trains from the city centre. There are also regular bus services from Glasgow, Dunbarton, Balloch and Helensburgh.

Latest campaign and research news

You'll hear about all the latest breakthroughs in the research that we fund, as well as in international research. You'll also hear of the progress we've made, working with our Muscle Group members, Trailblazers and other supporters, to secure specialist services across Scotland.

Workshops and advice

There'll be opportunities to meet with care advisors, and to hear updates from researchers. Our campaigns teams and volunteer fundraising teams will be on hand to update you on latest successes and opportunities.

Kite Awards

As has become a tradition over the past few years, we will take the opportunity at the Scottish Conference to celebrate the outstanding achievements of supporters in Scotland. President of the Scottish Council, Robbie Warner, will be there to present the 2012 Kite Awards. As always, the winners of these awards are supporters who inspire those around them or who do exceptional fundraising for the charity.

The categories for the 2012 Kite Awards are:

  • Community Champion of the Year
