A Marathon Effort
In glorious sunshine on Sunday 110 fabulous runners completed a grueling 26 miles and are on their way to raising an amazing £200,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign would like to extend a great big thank you to all of our dedicated and enthusiastic runners who participated in the London Marathon on Sunday.
Experienced athletes and first time fun runners took part in the nation's favorite road race each had their own personal story to tell to why they wanted to run for the charity.
Congratulations to Steve Hnatyszyn who was our fastest runner finishing in a staggering 3.07.26. Bernie Henderson was only one second behind finishing in 3:07:27. Our fastest female runner was not far behind by finishing in three hours nine minutes. Congratulations to all!
We would also like to thank all of the loud and proud volunteers who took to the streets along the route shouting words of encouragement to team members who sped past. Our cheering point at mile 13, The Bridge House Pub, who kindly opened early to offer parched supporters much needed refreshment, was our biggest with orange banners, balloons and supporters for nearly 40 metres.
Thanks also, to those who helped out at our post-race reception, including the highly skilled volunteers from Sports Therapy UK and the friendly staff from The Corinthia Hotel. We were so glad that we were able to reward our brave runners with a massage and a hot meal and sandwiches at the end of their journey through London.
Once again, a huge thanks to all of the fabulous fundraisers who went the extra mile in the name of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign! And without further ado, here are our heroes:
