Muscular Dystrophy Campaign awarded for providing excellent information
The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign have been awarded national recognition for providing accurate and up to date information about muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions. Our information service provides information to over 10,000 people every year who call our Information Line on 0800 652 6352 or who visit our website. We are always keen to improve and extend the information we offer.
One lady who recently used our service commented:
I received some great information on Duchenne muscular dystrophy from the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. It really means a lot to get such valuable information, on behalf of my sister, whose little son has this condition.
We are very pleased that the quality of the charity's Information Service has now been given national recognition with the Award of the Information Standard following a rigorous review and accreditation process. While it is always good to receive national recognition for the quality of our services, our commitment is to work to extend the information we provide and to improve services wherever we can.
The Information Standard is a quality mark created by the Department of Health that helps people to choose reliable health and social care.
The Standard helps to ensure that the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign:
- Provides clear accessible information to people with muscular dystrophy or related conditions, their families, carers and professionals involved in their care.
- Helps thoses affected by muscular dystrophy and related neuromuscular conditions make informed choices to effectively manage their condition.
- Provides up to date, evidence-based information that is regularly reviewed and updated.
Robert Meadowcroft, Chief Executive of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, said:
We are delighted to learn that the quality of our Information Service has been recognised with the Award of the national kite mark. We know that ‘knowledge is power' when people are faced with a diagnosis of muscular dystrophy and the uncertainties this can often bring. We are here to provide information and advice and we will continue to work to improve the support we provide.
