Get fit and fundraise in 2012

In the month famous for New Year's resolutions, why not resolve to get fit in 2012 by taking part in one of our high-energy events?

While Team GB is in training for the London Olympics and Paralympics, we can help you to get fit and offer you some training tips and advice to all our sporting fundraisers. From running a 10k to trekking up Kilimanjaro, there are loads of great ways to get fit and help us to support the 70,000 individuals and families throughout the UK affected by muscular dystrophy and related conditions.

Chip in, challenge yourself and change lives....

If running is not your thing, why not push yourself to the limit and take part in our ultimate golfing challenge - The Four Course Classic. Play 72 holes on one of the longest days of the year (Friday 22 June 2012), so you get to tee off as soon as the sun rises and try to reach the fourth and final clubhouse before the light fades. Imagine: 72 holes in 16 hours, and covering a whopping15 miles of fairways (and that's without any trips to the rough!).

Calling all adventure-seekers

Join our team of trekkers and climb to the top of Kilimanjaro! You will trek at altitude to conquer the highest mountain in Africa - a serious challenge and not for the faint-hearted.

2012 is a leap year and we're calling on people across the country to use the extra day on Wednesday 29 February to make today count by joining a team of 100 fundraisers all leaping out of a plane for the charity.

London Marathon 2012

If you're lucky enough to have your own place in the London Marathon, don't run it alone! Join our team and we'll help you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up until you finish the race. We'll send you one of our 'stand out from the crowd' orange vests with your name on it and fortnightly fundraising and training tips to keep you motivated. When you've finished, we'll meet you at the finish line and take you back to our exclusive post-race reception, where you can have a bite to eat and a massage to soothe your aching muscles.

The British 10K

The British 10k is the UK's most prestigious and sought-after 10km road race, with a route through the heart of London. Run alongside 25,000 runners and enjoy the unique chance to run past many of the country's greatest landmarks including Big Ben, the London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey.

There's no need to worry about your running prowess either, you will be running with a mix of charity fundraisers and recreational runners right through to Olympic champions

Our Oxford and Cambridge Town and Gown 10k races

Our famous 10k run, the Oxford Town and Gown, now has an historic rival! We're proud to announce the first ever Cambridge Town and Gown will happen in April, giving you the opportunity to take part in the Oxford run, the inaugural Cambridge run, or both! Both routes go through the heart of the cities, pass historic sites and end in beautiful green spaces.

Great Runs in Newcastle and Manchester

Lace up your trainers to run for us in the biggest and most prestigious half marathon in the world - the Great North Run. Join Team MDC and help us to turn the Tyne orange! We will give you full training and fundraising support and after the race you can join us at a post-race reception to refuel and enjoy a well-deserved sports massage.

If you register for both the Great North Run and Great Manchester Run, the registration fee is the bargain price of just £50 for both events. Ideal for any runner who wants to use the Great Manchester Run as training to help them achieve their dream half marathon time in the Great North Run.
