Supporting families and parents through diagnosis

A number of newspaper articles have today highlighted the challenges many parents face when going through the diagnosis process:  the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is here to help.

We support newly diagnosed families and offer both emotional and practical advice through our Information Service and we also signpost to other relevant organisations and to neuromuscular care advisors for more localised support. Our MD Links project put families in touch with each other who may be going through similar struggles to share information and offer peer support.

Our publication, An Introductory guide for families with a child newly diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy covers dealing with diagnosis, talking to your child and planning for the future. You can download this publication free from our online publications section or by contacting the Information Team.

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign supports people affected by muscular dystrophy and related conditions through diagnosis, transitional stages and into adulthood. For advice, support or information contact the Information Team on 0800 652 6352 or info@muscular-dystrophy.org
