Come and join us to cheer our London marathon runners on

Many people who run marathons and take on big challenges for us tell us how encouraged they feel to see Muscular Dystrophy Campaign T-shirted volunteers cheering them on. Do come and join us to spur our London Marathon runners on in April; it makes all the difference.

"It was an incredible day and the support from the crowds was amazing...especially from the Muscular Dystrophy crew, man you're a noisy bunch!!!" Fraser Black, 2012 runner.

On Sunday 21 April just over 100 people will be running for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in the Virgin London Marathon. Set to raise approximately £200,000, which will help keep our vital research moving forward, this is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

Each of our runners has been hard at work fundraising and training since last summer and we want to show our biggest appreciation for them on the day and give them all the encouragement we can.

"Thank you for your effort in arranging all of this - it was a great day. The support towards the end and mile 23 was crazy - much needed!" Jason Baskaran, 2010, 2011, 2012 runner.

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join us at two cheer points on the day - on Tower Bridge, which is the halfway point for the runners and overlooks a great London landmark; and on the Embankment, near the finish line so we can give our mighty team that extra push to help them go the final mile.

We also need help at our post-race reception at the 'In and Out Club', St James Square.  Tasks include meeting and greeting runners at the end of the race and escorting them to the reception, managing the massages area, and generally supporting participants and their family and friends.

For more information or to register your interest in volunteering on London Marathon day, please call the events team 020 7803 4828 or email events@muscular-dystrophy.org and let us know what you'd prefer to do on the day.
