Fab ‘N’ Funky 70s
11 October 2007
Our 24th Microscope Ball at the Park Lane Hilton on Thursday 4 October broke all past fundraising records with guests generously raising over £300,000 for the charity. The 70s themed evening saw over 850 people enjoying a sumptuous feast, fine wines and 70s nostalgia with a cabaret act from Chas and Dave and dancing to the AllStars. After an introduction from Sue Barker, dedicated Muscular Dystrophy Campaign members, Mark and Jane Field, asked guests to pledge their support for the charity. Using electronic keypads guests generously pledged over £12,000.
The silent and live auction featured many unique lots including a share in two race horses, a dinner party in your own home cooked and waited on by members of the Microscope Ball Committee, as well as driving experiences and luxury weekends away. Winning bidders generously donated over £60,000 for the exciting prizes.
Each year the Microscope ball grows form strength to strength and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign are enormously grateful to the Committee who help insure the Ball’s success, as well as for the tremendous support from the property industry who fill the Ballroom on the evening. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign would also like to extend a special thank you to all our sponsors and donors whose generosity made the evening possible.
