Good Luck to all of the Sahara Trekkers!
01 November 2007
Good Luck to all the Sahara Trekkers who head off on Saturday 3 November. Raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, 24 enthusiastic trekkers will spend a week walking across the Sahara.
The Sahara is the world’s largest desert covering over 3.5 million square miles;a bigger land mass than the United States. It’s an untamed wilderness of shifting sands, swept by mighty winds that transform huge rocks into unique and bizarre shapes – this is nature at its most uncompromising and spectacular.
In the Summer, temperatures at midday can be in excess of 50°C and they can plummet to near freezing during the night - it is one of the most challenging but also the most beautiful, truly unspoilt places on earth.
Come back in late November to find out how they got on.
