Research

Kay Davies, a scientist at work in her research laboratoryThe Muscular Dystrophy Campaign funds high-calibre research that contributes significantly to major global research advances in neuromuscular conditions. To maximise its impact, the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign has its own Research Committee of experts and uses a strict peer review system so that potential grant applications are evaluated by key researchers world-wide.

This ensures that the research we fund is:

  • in line with current trends
  • will significantly increase the understanding of these disorders
  • will move research closer towards the ultimate objective of finding treatments and cures

International collaboration and active liaison through a pan-European organisation known as the ENMC (European Neuromuscular Centre) means that discoveries are shared and the pace of research accelerated.
