First ever Target Research published!

In February 2009 the first edition of Target Research - a magazine devoted entirely to scientific research was published. Since the foundation of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign in 1959, clinicians and scientists have gained a much better understanding of how muscles function and the underlying factors that cause muscle disease.

In this magazine we take a look at the progress that has been made and highlight some of the exciting new potential therapies that are being developed. In this issue:

  • 50 years of neuromuscular research
  • From genes to drugs
  • Stem cells - the ultimate body repair kit
  • What does the new Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 mean for medical research?
  • Animals in research
  • All about clinical trials
  • Santhera's clinical trial in treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • From donation to innovation - how is our research money spent?
  • Lab visits and research projects funded by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign
  • Partnerships - TREAT-NMD, MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases and the European Neuromuscular Centre
